Rashid Mahmood appointed as new FBR chairman

July 31, 2024 (MLN): The government has appointed Secretary Power Division Rashid Mahmood Langrial as the new chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), said a notice issued by the government of Pakistan's cabinet secretariat establishment division.

"Rashid Mahmood, a BS-21 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service, presently posted as Secretary, Power Division, under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, is transferred and posted as Chairman, Federal Board of Revenue, under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, with immediate effect and until further orders," the notice reads.

Rashid Mahmood Langrial joined the civil service of Pakistan in 1995 and has a varied experience in different sectors.

He served as Secretary Power Division, Chief Secretary Gilgit Baltistan, Commissioner Lahore Division, Secretary Agriculture Punjab, Chief Executive Officer of National Power Parks Management Company (NPPMCL) (Pvt.), Chairperson Lahore Ring Road Authority as well as Secretary Tourism Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In initial years of his service, he served as Assistant Commissioner in various subdivisions of Sindh Province and later in Punjab as Deputy Secretary (Cabinet) and Deputy Secretary (Staff) in S&GAD.
