Jazz launches 5G services in Pakistan

March 20, 2026 (MLN): Jazz, operating under JazzWorld, has launched 5G services in Pakistan after receiving the Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS)/5G license from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, which marks  a major step forward in the country’s digital development.

The license agreement was signed by DG Licensing PTA Brig. (Retd.) Aamir Shahzad and CEO Aamir Ibrahim at a ceremony attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for IT & Telecom Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and PTA Chairman Maj. Gen. (Retd.) Hafeez Ur Rehman, along with senior public and private sector leaders, according to a press release issued.

In its initial rollout phase, 5G services are active across approximately 180 sites, covering Islamabad, all provincial capitals, and major urban centers including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, and Faisalabad.

With spectrum secured across key bands 700 MHz, 2300 MHz, 2600 MHz, and 3500 MHz Jazz is positioned to deliver faster speeds, lower latency, and improved reliability.

The company is also continuing to expand and upgrade its nationwide 4G network to ensure broader access to connectivity.

Speaking at the ceremony, Aamir Ibrahim described the development as the beginning of Pakistan’s 5G era, emphasizing its potential to drive innovation, economic growth, and inclusive digital access.

Recently, Jazz has committed  $1 billion toward strengthening Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, adding to more than $11 billion invested in the country over the past three decades.
