January 15, 2019 (MLN): In the week that ended on January 11, 2019, Purified terephthalic acid (PTA) margins in China declined by 28% on a week-on-week basis, according to Independent Chemical Information Service (ICIS)’s data.

The falloff occurred amid a growth in paraxylene (PX) prices by 10% WoW, and the drop in domestic PTA selling prices.

Output-to-sales ratio of PTA downstream market slipped by the end of week since purchase of most end-users halted.

During the weak downstream demand and PTA futures on last Friday, PTA prices dropped by the end of the week and margins neared the breakeven point.
