PSX Closing Bell: Yesterday and Today

October 22, 2021 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 index ended the trading session on Friday with a 243.04 point or 0.53 percent decline to close at the 45,578.36 level.

The trading activity was knocked by the news that the finance minister left the US without concluding IMF negotiations. While the country-wise protest by TLP (a political party) and rupee devaluation against the dollar also affected investors’ sentiments, as per market closing note by Al- Habib Capital Markets.

The Index traded in a range of 853.30 points or 1.86 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 46,033.26 and a low of 45,179.96.

Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 32 closed up 62 closed down, while 1 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 141.98 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 65 points, Fertilizer with 64 points, Technology & Communication with 59 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 38 points and Automobile Assembler with 17 points.

The most points taken off the index was by TRG which stripped the index of 40 points followed by ENGRO with 39 points, PPL with 36 points, PSO with 28 points and OGDC with 24 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 41 points, Insurance with 26 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 11 points, Textile Composite with 5 points and Leather & Tanneries with 2 points.

The most points added to the index was by HBL which contributed 34 points followed by UBL with 25 points, AICL with 18 points, CHCC with 16 points and THALL with 11 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 37.63 Million to 300.69 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.34.10 Billion.

Total companies traded were 346 compared to 359 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 129 closed up, 208 closed down while 9 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 4,318 to 118,320.

Value Traded decreased by 1.53 Billion to Rs.11.83 Billion
