January 03, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistan Stock Exchange regained its bullish momentum on Wednesday after witnessing a half-percentage decline yesterday.

The index concluded today's session at 64,646.85 showing an increase of 297.25 points or 0.46%.

KSE-100 traded in a range of 1,025.06 points showing an intraday high of 65,244.60 (+895.00) and a low of 64,219.54 (-130.06) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 index was 417.378 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 48 closed up, 45 closed down, 3 were unchanged, while 4 remained untraded.

KSE-100 index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 150.13, Fertilizer with 96.38, Engineering with 36.6, Cement with 32.59, and Tobacco with 22.13 points.

On the contrary, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 30.37, Technology & Communication with 18.98, Miscellaneous with 17.04, Automobile Assembler with 13.02, and Chemical with 11.23 points.

Companies adding points to the index were OGDC with 87.68, PPL with 72.7, FFC with 62.12, PAKT with 22.13, and KOHC with 22.08 points.

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were MEBL with 30.36, MTL with 22.78, PSO with 22.16, SYS with 20.92 and PSEL with 16.22 points.

In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 43,299.67 with a net gain of 308.14 points.

Total market volume was 639.616 million shares compared to 671.665 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs20.28 billion showing a decrease of Rs4.17bn.

There were 223,011 trades reported in 365 companies with 190 closing up, 158 closing down and 17 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 23,194 points or 55.95% during the fiscal year, whereas the ongoing calendar year has witnessed a cumulative increase of 2,196 points, equivalent to 3.52%.
