April 18, 2023 (MLN): The local bourse on Tuesday remained positive on the back of optimism pertaining to the expected IMF tranche as the government has almost fulfilled all the conditions put forth by the fund. 

As a result, the benchmark KSE-100 index gained 201.38 points to close at 40,448.05, marking an intraday high of 40,483.26 and a low of 40,220.03.

Of the 92 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 53 closed up 35 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 34.30 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Fertilizer with 87 points, Commercial Banks with 70 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 22 points, Textile Composite and Technology & Communication with 11 points each.

The most points added to the index were by ENGRO which contributed 74 points followed by UBL with 23 points, BAHL with 18 points, HUBC with 17 points and HBL with 14 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Cement with 16 points, Chemical with 6 points, Pharmaceuticals and Synthetic & Rayon with 4 points and Insurance with 3 points.

The most points taken off the index was by LUCK which stripped the index of 12 points followed by MUREB with 6 points, MTL and LOTCHEM with 5 points and IBFL with 4 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 27.24mn to 67.54mn shares. Market Cap increased by Rs17.66 billion.

The total companies traded were 306 compared to 316 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 156 closed up, 130 closed down and 20 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 11,242 to 37,145.

Value Traded decreased by 0.78bn to Rs2.28bn.
