June 15, 2022 (MLN): Extending yesterday’s gaining momentum, the capital market on Wednesday has witnessed strong buying activity as the benchmark KSE-100 index managed to gain 384.11 points to close at 41,438.79, witnessing an intraday high of 41,535.24.

The positive sentiments mainly stemmed from the upcoming FATF decision where investors are hopeful about Pakistan’s removal from FATF’s grey list.

In addition, China has agreed to disburse additional $2.5-2.8bn by the end of CY22 along with a rollover of $2.3bn.

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 64 closed up 25 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 60.09 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 74 points, Commercial Banks with 71 points, Fertilizer with 70 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 55 points, and Power Generation & Distribution with 35 points.

The most points added to the index were by FFC which contributed 56 points followed by HUBC with 37 points, HBL with 33 points, OGDC with 23 points, and PPL with 21 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Pharmaceuticals with 4 points and Glass & Ceramics with 2 points.

The most points taken off the index was by BAHL which stripped the index of 9 points followed by SCBPL with 8 points, ABOT with 5 points, KEL with 3 points, and POL with 3 points.

All Share Volume increased by 21.58 million to 141.71 million shares. Market Cap increased by Rs40.67 billion.

Total companies traded were 337 compared to 315 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 175 closed up, 131 closed down while 31 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 8,061 to 75,199.

Value Traded increased by 1.40 billion to Rs4.76 billion
