March 21, 2022 (MLN): The capital market kicked off the week on a positive note as the benchmark KSE-100 index witnessed a recovery by 200.25 points to close the session at 43,230.22 mainly due to the news pertaining to the resolution of Reko Diq dispute and shrinking current account deficit.

However, the political uncertainty and PKR’s continuous slide have kept the investors’ concerns elevated.

The Index remained positive throughout the session touching an intraday high of 43,387.50.

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 50 closed up 38 closed down, while 5 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 48.06 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Fertilizer with 59 points, Cement with 38 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 24 points, Commercial Banks with 21 points and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 17 points.

The most points added to the index was by FFC which contributed 47 points followed by HBL with 40 points, LUCK with 28 points, DAWH with 19 points and PPL with 15 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Technology & Communication with 12 points, Insurance with 9 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 6 points, Paper & Board with 3 points and Cable & Electrical Goods with 1 point.

The most points taken off the index was by UBL which stripped the index of 13 points followed by BAHL with 11 points, HMB with 9 points, AICL with 8 points and TRG with 8 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 55.49 million to 124.95 million shares. Market Cap increased by Rs36.33 billion.

Total companies traded were 317 compared to 335 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 165 closed up, 126 closed down while 26 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 29,097 to 60,016.

Value Traded decreased by 2.46 billion to Rs3.93 billion
