October 27, 2021 (MLN): Snapping the two-day losing streak, the capital market remained positive throughout the session on the back of positive developments.

Investors cherish the financial support of $4.2 billion by Saudi Arabia to help ease pressure on trade and increase foreign currency reserves. The financial assistance includes a $3bn deposit in the State Bank of Pakistan while $1.2bn to finance the oil derivative trade throughout the year.

In addition, the PKR appreciation by Rs2.5 has also strengthened investors’ confidence in the local bourse.

Accordingly, the benchmark KSE-100 index settled the trading session on Wednesday at 45,791.92 with a gain of 564.12 points, reaching an intraday high of 46,024.76.

However, the technical issues in the newly launched trading system at PSX have disturbed the trading activities as the trading floor had been suspended from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm due to technical issues being identified in the JADE Trading Terminal (JTT).

Of the 93 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 75 closed up 15 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 87.75 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Cement with 123 points, Technology & Communication with 107 points, Commercial Banks with 66 points, Fertilizer with 54 points and Engineering with 54 points.

The most points added to the index was by TRG which contributed 65 points followed by MCB with 52 points, LUCK with 46 points, SYS with 39 points and FFC with 34 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Pharmaceuticals with 9 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 8 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 5 points and Leather & Tanneries with 2 points.

The most points taken off the index was by ABOT which stripped the index of 21 points followed by BAFL with 16 points, IGIHL with 11 points, BAHL with 9 points and NBP with 5 points.

All Share Volume increased by 15.49 Million to 180.40 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.71.87 Billion.

Total companies traded were 333 compared to 328 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 245 closed up, 76 closed down while 12 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 2,987 to 73,197.

Value Traded increased by 1.51 Billion to Rs.7.19 Billion
