May 17, 2023 (MLN): The local equities kicked off the session in the green, however, investors swayed both sides on the back of rising political temperature and delay in the IMF tranche. 

Accordingly, the benchmark KSE-100 index lost 172.59 points to close at 41,833.66.

The Index traded in a range of 291.70 points or 0.69 percent of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 42,110.03 and a low of 41,818.33.

Of the 92 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 29 closed up 60 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 55.09 million shares.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 90 points, Commercial Banks with 35 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. and Technology & Communication with 34 points and Cement with 28 points.

The most points taken off the index was by DAWH which stripped the index of 33 points followed by POL with 32 points, OGDC with 28 points, SYS with 27 points and PPL with 24 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Fertilizer with 26 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 15 points, Miscellaneous and Leather & Tanneries with 10 points and Chemical with 4 points.

The most points added to the index were by FFC which contributed 21 points followed by SRVI and NESTLE with 10 points, HBL with 7 points and ENGRO with 6 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 70.71mn to 125.53mn shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs17.31 billion.

The total companies traded were 319 compared to 324 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 117 closed up, 179 closed down and 23 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 13,396 to 65,376.

Value Traded decreased by 2.23bn to Rs3.54bn.
