PSX Closing Bell: Really Slow Motion

November 5, 2021 (MLN): Contrary to yesterday’s session, domestic equities managed to close in green on Friday, by gaining just 76 points or up by 0.16% compared to the previous close.

The market opened on a positive note and gained to make an intraday high of 389 points. However, during the later hours, it lost the impetus as profit-taking was observed which declined the index to close at 47,296 level.

The Index traded in a range of 423.39 points or 0.90 percent of previous close.

Of the 97 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 46 closed up 49 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 150.55 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Commercial Banks with 83 points, Cement with 45 points, Fertilizer with 13 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 9 points and Miscellaneous with 9 points.

The most points added to the index was by UBL which contributed 30 points followed by HBL with 22 points, MCB with 20 points, OGDC with 17 points and PIOC with 14 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Technology & Communication with 45 points, Refinery with 14 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 11 points, Power Generation & Distribution with 10 points and Engineering with 9 points.

The most points taken off the index was by TRG which stripped the index of 22 points followed by SYS with 20 points, POL with 13 points, THALL with 11 points and FABL with 9 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 92.07 Million to 469.87 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.6.00 Billion.

Total companies traded were 363 compared to 379 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 180 closed up, 164 closed down while 19 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 794 to 167,750.

Value Traded decreased by 0.09 Billion to Rs.15.92 Billion
