PSX Closing Bell: Post Holiday Depression

February 8, 2021 (MLN): The KSE-100 index ended the trading session on Monday with a 183.92 point or 0.39 percent decline to close at 46,721.87.

E&P sector continued to register gains as oil prices rose internationally. However, that was not enough to contain the impact of profit-taking, that was witnessed in the second half of the session.  

The Index traded in a range of 413.00 points or 0.88 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 47,072.21 and a low of 46,659.21.

Of the 98 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 32 closed up 64 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 189.86 million shares.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Fertilizer with 102 points, Commercial Banks with 53 points, Cement with 53 points, Chemical with 27 points and Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 22 points.

The most points taken off the index was by ENGRO which stripped the index of 45 points followed by FFC with 26 points, HBL with 22 points, DAWH with 21 points and EFERT with 19 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 99 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 53 points, Engineering with 7 points, Cable & Electrical Goods with 4 points and Refinery with 3 points.

The most points added to the index was by TRG which contributed 92 points followed by POL with 29 points, MARI with 16 points, SYS with 9 points and OGDC with 8 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 11.65 Million to 428.63 Million Shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs.45.88 Billion.

Total companies traded were 419 compared to 430 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 158 closed up, 242 closed down while 19 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 19,089 to 158,610.

Value Traded decreased by 4.24 Billion to Rs.22.18 Billion
