March 30, 2023 (MLN): The capital market on Thursday endured an uninspiring trading session as investors still eyeing the most awaited development on the IMF front. 

Adding fuel to the fire, the political uncertainty has also crushed investors' sentiments which led the index to close at 39,848.35, down by 31.54 points.

The Index traded in a range of 207.39 points of the previous close, showing an intraday high of 40,005.07 and a low of 39,797.68.

Of the 87 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 36 closed up 48 closed down, while 3 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 48.91 million shares.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Miscellaneous with 38 points, Technology & Communication with 21 points, Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 13 points, Fertilizer with 13 points and Food & Personal Care Products with 10 points.

The most points taken off the index was by PSEL which stripped the index of 36 points followed by TRG with 17 points, DAWH with 16 points, HBL with 11 points and NESTLE with 8 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Automobile Assembler with 29 points, Cement with 16 points, Pharmaceuticals with 15 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 13 points and Paper & Board with 4 points.

The most points added to the index were by MTL which contributed 23 points followed by PPL with 20 points, MEBL with 12 points, ABOT with 11 points and HMB with 9 points.

All share volume decreased by 20.09mn to 88.70mn shares. Market Cap decreased by Rs1.11 billion.

The total companies traded were 286 compared to 303 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 123 closed up, 138 closed down and 25 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 1,996 to 47,678.

Value Traded increased by 0.78bn to Rs3.99bn.
