Intraday Report: KSE-100 Index gains 485pts to near 58

April 27, 2023 (MLN): Bulls continued to rule at the trading floor on Thursday as heavy buying activity was observed throughout the day, marking an intraday high of 41,525.01.  

Investors remained optimistic as most of the companies reported significant profits during the period of nine months ended March 31, 2023. Meanwhile, political ease has also helped the bourse to maintain bullish momentum. 

As a result, the benchmark KSE-100 index ended the trading session with a gain of 364.33 points to close at 41,463.91.

Of the 92 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 61 closed up 29 closed down, while 2 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 92.49 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. with 72 points, Commercial Banks with 58 points, Cement with 47 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 44 points, and Fertilizer with 30 points.

The most points added to the index was by DAWH which contributed 70 points followed by MARI with 36 points, UBL with 32 points, PSEL with 30 points and MEBL with 23 points.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Pharmaceuticals with 8 points, Paper & Board, Glass & Ceramics and Refinery with 3 points and Transport with 1 point.

The most points taken off the index was by BAHL which stripped the index of 15 points followed by HBL with 13 points, PPL with 12 points, TRG and FCEPL with 5 points.

All Share Volume decreased by 17.80mn to 169.11mn shares. Market Cap increased by Rs44.46 billion.

The total companies traded were 342 compared to 331 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 175 closed up, 141 closed down while 26 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 378 to 95,939.

Value Traded increased by 0.47bn to Rs6.25bn.
