July 26, 2023 (MLN): Riding the upward trail, the benchmark KSE-100 Index on Wednesday added 265.18 points to close the session at 46,682.52, marking an intraday high of 46,724.57.
The confidence was further strengthened by the news flow pertaining to the Chinese loan worth $2.1 billion which has been extended for a time span of two years. Meanwhile, a consortium of two major Chinese banks is set to disburse a generous sum of $600 million to the country in the coming days.
The total Volume of the KSE100 Index was 243.056 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 62 closed up, 31 closed down, 3 were unchanged while 4 remained untraded.
KSE100 index was supported by Commercial Banks with 79.6, Textile Composite with 37.59, Power Generation & Distribution with 36.5, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 34.17 and Technology & Communication with 30.12 points.
Companies adding points to the index were MEBL with 26.22, MCB with 23.14, HUBC with 23.02, UBL with 21.38 and PSO with 18.93 points.
KSE100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 27.62, Miscellaneous with 6.67, Chemical with 5.97, Tobacco with 1.77 and Paper & Board with 1.45 points.
Companies dragging the index lower were PPL with 12.79, PSEL with 11.0, HBL with 9.48, OGDC with 8.54 and COLG with 8.54 points.
In the broader market, the All-Share index closed at 31,185.85 with a net gain of 131.78 points.
Total market volume was 429.516 million shares compared to 319.893 from the previous session while traded value was recorded at 14.14 billion showing an increase of Rs.3.88 billion.
There was 163,739 trades reported in 347 companies with 211 closing up, 117 closing down and 19 remaining unchanged.
