PSX Closing Bell: Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere

March 16, 2022 (MLN): Following the rally from the previous session, the Pakistan Stock Exchange closed another trade in green on Wednesday due to a delay in opposition parties’ protests coupled with the decline in commodity prices.

Meanwhile, an upsurge in textile exports during 8MFY22 to $12.6bn, further uplifted the investor sentiments, a market wrap by Pearl Securities noted.

Consequently, the benchmark KSE-100 index settled the trade at 43,975.69 after a gain of 255.87 points or 0.59 percent.

The Index remained positive throughout the session recording an intraday high of 44,283.88.

Of the 95 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 60 closed up 31 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. The total volume traded for the index was 77.40 million shares.

Sectors propping up the index were Technology & Communication with 88 points, Cement with 76 points, Commercial Banks with 41 points, Food & Personal Care Products with 22 points and Textile Composite with 19 points.

The most points added to the index was by SYS which contributed 77 points followed by DGKC with 21 points, MEBL with 17 points, UBL with 16 points and HUBC with 15 points.

Sector wise, the index was let down by Tobacco with 15 points, Automobile Assembler with 13 points, Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 11 points, Fertilizer with 11 points and Chemical with 4 points.

The most points taken off the index was by HBL which stripped the index of 20 points followed by PAKT with 15 points, INDU with 15 points, COLG with 7 points and ENGRO with 6 points.

All Share Volume increased by 47.47 Million to 236.51 Million Shares. Market Cap increased by Rs.11.11 Billion.

Total companies traded were 354 compared to 346 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 215 closed up, 115 closed down while 24 remained unchanged.

Total trades increased by 18,030 to 92,519.

Value Traded increased by 1.10 Billion to Rs.5.79 Billion
