December 20, 2024 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Friday's trading session at 109,513.14, showing an increase of 3,238.17 points or 3.05%.
The index traded in a range of 4,245.61 points showing an intraday high of 109,846.64 (+3,571.67) and a low of 105,601.03 (-673.94) points.
The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 321.98 million shares.
Of the 100 index companies 85 closed up, 14 closed down, while 1 were unchanged.
Top gainers during the day were PTC (+10.02%), CHCC (+9.45%), KOHC (+9.21%), SYS (+8.50%), and SCBPL (+8.19%).
On the other hand, top losers were EFUG (-5.14%), NRL (-2.20%), PSEL (-2.20%), PKGP (-0.86%), and INDU (-0.76%).
In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were FFC (+332.61pts), MARI (+305.73pts), SYS (+267.80pts), HUBC (+219.97pts), and UBL (+196.86pts).
Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were PSEL (-13.84pts), EFUG (-9.71pts), INDU (-7.73pts), NRL (-5.44pts), and ABOT (-5.40pts).
Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+762.75pts), Fertilizer (+578.57pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+480.22pts), Cement (+371.75pts), and Technology & Communication (+363.84pts).
While the index was let down by Insurance (-12.36pts), Real Estate Investment Trust (-1.09pts), Tobacco (-0.01pts), Synthetic & Rayon (+0.00pts), and Woollen (+0.09pts).
In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 69,212.12 with a net gain of 1,727.86 points or 2.56%.
Total market volume was 754.92 million shares compared to 1,167.36m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs39.42 billion showing a decrease of Rs17.37bn.
There were 366,861 trades reported in 459 companies with 281 closing up, 119 closing down, and 59 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 31,068 points or 39.61% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 47,062 points or 75.36% so far this calendar year.
