January 22, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Wednesday's trading session at 113,443.43, showing a decrease of 1,598.82 points or 1.39%.

The index traded in a range of 1,896.79 points showing an intraday high of 115,256.16 (+213.91) and a low of 113,359.37 (-1,682.88) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 358.35 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 15 closed up, 82 closed down, while 3 were unchanged.

Top losers during the day were MARI (-9.79%), PGLC (-8.26%), KOSM (-4.03%), SCBPL (-3.50%), and PSEL (-3.39%).

On the other hand, top gainers were FCCL (+7.17%), KTML (+5.81%), KOHC (+2.52%), DGKC (+2.11%), and INIL (+2.04%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that dragged the index lower were MARI (-502.46pts), ENGROH (-193.63pts), OGDC (-88.67pts), PPL (-81.02pts), and HUBC (-71.90pts).

Meanwhile, companies that added points to the index were FCCL (+71.80pts), SYS (+31.04pts), KOHC (+17.49pts), DGKC (+14.25pts), and KTML (+12.19pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-707.61pts), Commercial Banks (-246.33pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-196.90pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (-106.78pts), and Power Generation & Distribution (-103.80pts).

While the index was supported by Cement (+92.97pts), Textile Composite (+8.44pts), Real Estate Investment Trust (+0.54pts), Tobacco (+0.01pts), and Synthetic & Rayon (+0.00pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 70,346.80 with a net loss of 1,072.79 points or 1.50%.

Total market volume was 743.63 million shares compared to 767.26m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs35.25 billion showing an increase of Rs3.42bn.

There were 351,489 trades reported in 453 companies with 92 closing up, 307 closing down, and 54 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 34,998 points or 44.62% during the fiscal year, whereas it has decreased 1,683 points or 1.46% so far this calendar year.
