PSX Closing Bell: Baby You're a Firework

April 21, 2025 (MLN): The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday's trading session at 118,383.38, showing an increase of 1,067.80 points or 0.91%.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 118,827.47 (+1,511.89) and a low of 117,712.70 (+397.12) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 367.33 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 59 closed up, 38 closed down, 2 were unchanged, while 1 remained untraded.

Top gainers during the day were SNGP (+9.35%), MEBL (+9.13%), NATF (+6.30%), MLCF (+6.00%), and KTML (+4.87%).

On the other hand, top losers were POML (-2.44%), EPCL (-2.38%), JVDC (-1.93%), EFERT (-1.78%), and HBL (-1.74%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were MEBL (+346.13pts), MCB (+167.18pts), UBL (+135.23pts), SNGP (+100.89pts), and HUBC (+79.39pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were MARI (-76.16pts), EFERT (-66.11pts), HBL (-49.43pts), FFC (-34.98pts), and SYS (-33.71pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+765.81pts), Cement (+152.60pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+93.56pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+81.50pts), and Automobile Assembler (+70.53pts).

While the index was let down by Fertilizer (-105.98pts), Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (-87.45pts), Technology & Communication (-39.08pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (-33.10pts), and Leather & Tanneries (-10.44pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 73,970.94 with a net gain of 623.10 points or 0.85%.

Total market volume was 672.43 million shares compared to 425.12m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs36.42 billion showing an increase of Rs1.93bn.

There were 340,224 trades reported in 449 companies with 251 closing up, 157 closing down, and 41 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 39,938 points or 50.91% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 3,256 points or 2.83% so far this calendar year.
