PSX Close: KSE-100 Index down by150.97 points

September 02, 2022 (MLN): Despite IMF's tranche, the capital market on Friday witnessed a range-bound trading session as investors remained cautious due to the historic inflation number and concerns over the drastic impact of floods.  

Speaking to Mettis Global, Fahad Rauf, Head of Research at Ismail Iqbal Securities also said, "Market is concerned on flood impacts that have overshadowed other developments."

Resultantly, the benchmark KSE-100 index ended the trading session at 42,309.11 with a loss of 150.97 points.

The index traded in a range of 333.64 points or 0.79 percent of previous close, showing an intraday high of 42,569.52 and a low of 42,235.88.

Of the 97 traded companies in the KSE100 Index 31 closed up 62 closed down, while 4 remained unchanged. Total volume traded for the index was 82.11 million shares.

Sector-wise, the index was let down by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies with 47 points, Commercial Banks with 16 points, Automobile Parts & Accessories with 16 points, Oil & Gas Marketing Companies with 15 points and Automobile Assembler with 14 points.

The most points taken off the index was by PPL which stripped the index of 18 points followed by FFC with 18 points, THALL with 16 points, POL with 12 points and DAWH with 11 points.

Sectors propping up the index were Paper & Board with 7 points, Insurance with 6 points, Property with 5 points, Leather & Tanneries with 3 points and Sugar & Allied Industries with 3 points.

The most points added to the index was by FABL which contributed 15 points followed by COLG with 11 points, KOHC with 8 points, CEPB with 7 points and EFERT with 7 points.

All share volume decreased by 88.06mn to 160.14mn shares. Market cap decreased by Rs21.09 billion.

Total companies traded were 344 compared to 345 from the previous session. Of the scrips traded 130 closed up, 193 closed down while 21 remained unchanged.

Total trades decreased by 27,289 to 78,065.

Value Traded decreased by 3.39bn to Rs4.63bn.
