Power Minister unveils plans to tackle Rs80bn loss in Balochistan’s tube wells with solar transition

April 03, 2024 (MLN): To address the annual loss of around Rs80 billion from Balochistan's agricultural tube wells, Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari announced plans on Tuesday for swift action to convert these tube wells to solar power.

These plans will be crafted in consultation with all stakeholders, ensuring a sustainable and efficient energy solution for Balochistan's agricultural sector.

He directed officials from the Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) to provide detailed information regarding feeders dedicated to agricultural tube wells.

The meeting was also attended by Federal Secretary Power, Chief Secretary Balochistan, and other officials.
