PMEX trading surges 38% to Rs23.4bn

May 15, 2024 (MLN): The trading activity at the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) on Tuesday soared by 38% DoD to clock in at Rs23.4 billion with the number of lots traded at 18,266.

While, the commodity exchange closed at 10,639, down by 0.09% DoD.

Gold remained in the limelight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs11.57bn. Following closely behind, Currencies through COTS recorded trading valued at Rs3.35bn.

NSDQ 100 also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs2.52bn. In addition, Silver, Crude Oil and Platinum attracted substantial attention from investors, and their transactions stood at around Rs1.21bn, Rs1.1bn, and Rs2.64bn, respectively.

Moreover, Natural Gas transactions reached Rs158.65m, DJ at Rs154.12m, Copper at Rs436.6m, S&P 500 at Rs125.62m and Brent at Rs19.1m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 36 lots amounting to Rs47.4m changing hands.
