PMEX records 6% surge in trading activity on Thursday

March 29, 2024 (MLN): Across Metals, Energy, COTS/FX, and indices, the transactions at the Pakistan Mercantile Exchange (PMEX) observed a 6% DoD increase on Thursday to clocked in at Rs30.48 billion compared to the previous session close of Rs28.73bn.

With a surge in the number of lots traded, 25,274 lots changed hands, compared to the previous close of 20,262. 

Thus, the commodity exchange closed at 10,221 up by 0.8% DoD. 

Gold remained in the limelight, contributing significantly to the trading volume with transactions worth Rs18.51 billion. Following closely behind, Currencies through COTS recorded trading valued at Rs2.69bn.

NSDQ 100 also made a prominent spot, clocking in at Rs2.55bn. In addition, Platinum, Crude Oil, and Silver attracted substantial attention from investors as well and their transactions stood at Rs2.098bn, Rs1.69bn, and Rs1.9bn, respectively.

Moreover, transactions of Natural Gas transactions reached Rs209m, DJ at Rs100.48m, Copper at Rs99.12m, SP 500 at Rs211.11m, Palladium at Rs168.72m, Japan Equity at Rs33.6m, and Brent at Rs110.1m.

In the agricultural commodities segment, Cotton saw active trading, with 9 lots amounting to Rs11.41m changing hands.
