PM approves trivial hike in pol prices against OGRA’s recommendations

December 31, 2020: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday, approved the minimum possible increase in petroleum prices against the recommendations forwarded by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

The oil and gas regulator had conveyed a summary to the Petroleum Division for revision in petrol prices for the first half of January 2021 and recommended a hike of Rs 10.68 and Rs 8.37 per liter for Petrol and Diesel respectively.

However, in view of the government's priorities to provide maximum relief to the people, Prime Minister Imran Khan approved a minimum increase of Rs2.31 per litre for Petrol and Rs 1.8 per litre for Diesel.

Similarly, for Kerosene Oil and Light Diesel, the OGRA had proposed a raise of Rs 10.92 and Rs 14.87 per liter respectively, while the government has granted an increase of just Rs 3.36 and Rs 3.39 per liter to these commodities respectively.
