PKR weakens by 9 paisa against USD

February 03, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) decreased by 9.49 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.04 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 278.95.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.10 and a low (ask) of 279.00.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.00 for buying and 281.00 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR strengthened 5.18 rupees or 1.78% against the Euro, closing at 285.04 compared to the previous value of 290.22.

Against the British Pound, PKR strengthened by 4.08 rupees or 1.18% to 342.76 compared to 346.85 a day ago.

The local unit rose 3.20 rupees or 1.04% against Swiss franc to close at 303.49.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value rose 1.07 paisa or 0.59% to close the session at 1.7929 versus 1.8036 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee weakened 1.31 paisa or 0.03% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.48 from 38.47.

The local currency weakened by 2.92 paisa or 0.04% against Saudi Riyal to 74.40. While it weakened by 2.58 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.97.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 70.32 paisa or 0.25%. While it has weakened 49.44 paisa or 0.18% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 11.48% and 11.73%.
