PKR trades 5 paisa lower against USD

January 07, 2020 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 5 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 155.01 per USD, against yesterday's closing of PKR 154.96 per USD.

The rupee endured a relatively dull trading session with very little intraday movement, trading in a range of 13 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 155.08 and an intraday Low offer of 155.00.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 154.80/155.50 per USD.

Meanwhile, the currency lost 1.1 rupees to the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 204.43 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 203.31 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR's value weakened by 9 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 173.33 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) conducted an Open Market Operation in which it injected Rs.62.3 billion for 3 days at 13.28 percent.

The overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 13.25/13.35 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 13.35/13.40 percent.
