June 21, 2023 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 23.83 paisa against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session as the currency settled the trade at PKR 286.97 per USD, compared to the previous session's closing of PKR 287.21 per USD.
The currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 287.1 and a low (ask) of 287.05.
In the open market, Exchange Companies quoted the dollar at 288 for buying and 291 for selling.
In comparison to major currencies, PKR gained 34.66 paisa against the Euro, closing at 313.63 compared to the previous value of 313.98.
The British Pound became cheaper by 2.07 rupees closing at 365.13 compared to 367.20 from a day ago.
The Swiss franc saw losses of 78.28 paisa, closing at 319.60 compared to 320.39 from the previous session.
Against the Japanese Yen, PKR gained 0.75 Paisa, closing at 2.02 versus 2.02 a day ago.
The Chinese Yuan lost 12.38 paisa, closing at 39.89 against 40.02 from the previous session.
The Saudi Riyal decreased in value by 6.7 paisa from 78.19 a day ago to 78.13.
The U.A.E Dirham closed at 76.50 with a loss of 5.53 paisa from its values of 76.56 a day ago.
During the current financial year, PKR has depreciated against the Dollar by 82.13 rupees or 28.62%. While the current calendar year has seen PKR depreciate by 60.55 rupees or 21.1%.
In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2 bps to 21.89% and 22.14%.
