PKR strengthens 5 paisa against USD

February 11, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) increased by 5.40 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.17 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.22.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.30 and a low (ask) of 279.15.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.00 for buying and 281.25 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR increased 30.69 paisa or 0.11% against the Euro, closing at 287.67 compared to the previous value of 287.97.

Against the British Pound, PKR increased by 1.91 rupees or 0.55% to 344.50 compared to 346.41 a day ago.

The local unit rose 42.91 paisa or 0.14% against Swiss franc to close at 306.19.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value depreciated 0.18 paisa or 0.10% to close the session at 1.8370 versus 1.8352 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee increased 0.73 paisa or 0.02% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.20 from 38.21.

The local currency gained by 1.53 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 74.44. While it strengthened by 1.57 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.00.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has weakened against the US Dollar by 82.43 paisa or 0.30%. While it has decreased 61.55 paisa or 0.22% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 1bps to 11.55% and 11.80%.
