PKR stands firm against dollar

August 27, 2019 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 10 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 157.26 per USD, against yesterday's closing of PKR 157.36 per USD.

The rupee traded within a very narrow range of 17 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 157.40 and an intraday Low offer of 157.30.

Pak Rupee appreciated for the eight successive session and has gained 1.70 Rupes against the dollar since Aug 16, 2019.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 157.00/158.00 per USD.

Alternatively, the currency lost 5 paisa to the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 192.71 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 192.66 per GBP.

On the other hand, PKR's value strengthened by 14 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 174.74 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 12.25/12.50 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 12.90/13.25 percent.
