Pakistan, Hungary agree to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors

September 23, 2026 (MLN):  Pakistan and Hungary reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in political, economic, trade and investment, business, education and people-to-people domains.

The reaffirmation came during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and his Hungarian counterpart, Anita Orbán, on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, according to a press release issued.

During the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister congratulated Foreign Minister Orbán on assuming her office and conveyed his best wishes for a successful tenure.

Both sides stressed the importance of convening regular bilateral consultative mechanisms to maintain momentum in bilateral engagement.

The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and international developments, with the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister underscoring that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means of addressing challenges and stressing the importance of all parties returning to the Islamabad MoU.

The two sides agreed to remain in close contact on bilateral and regional matters of mutual interest.
