PKR loses 6 paisa against USD

February 17, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) deteriorated by 5.62 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Monday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.27 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.21.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.45 and a low (ask) of 279.30.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 278.75 for buying and 281.25 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR depreciated 44.99 paisa or 0.15% against the Euro, closing at 292.71 compared to the previous value of 292.26.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 71.31 paisa or 0.20% to 351.75 compared to 351.04 a day ago.

The local unit fell 1.66 rupees or 0.54% against Swiss franc to close at 310.28.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 1.05 paisa or 0.57% to close the session at 1.8392 versus 1.8287 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee depreciated 10.04 paisa or 0.26% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.50 from 38.40.

The local currency fell by 1.80 paisa or 0.02% against Saudi Riyal to 74.46. While it depreciated by 1.53 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.03.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has deteriorated against the US Dollar by 92.46 paisa or 0.33%. While it has depreciated 71.58 paisa or 0.26% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched up by 3bps to 11.59% and 11.84%.
