PKR loses 10 paisa against USD

February 18, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) depreciated by 10.09 paisa or 0.04% against the US dollar in Tuesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.37 per USD, compared to previous closing of 279.27.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.35 and a low (ask) of 279.30.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.00 for buying and 281.25 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR appreciated 36.92 paisa or 0.13% against the Euro, closing at 292.34 compared to the previous value of 292.71.

Against the British Pound, PKR decreased by 71.37 paisa or 0.20% to 352.46 compared to 351.75 a day ago.

The local unit increased 43.88 paisa or 0.14% against Swiss franc to close at 309.84.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value increased 0.22 paisa or 0.12% to close the session at 1.8370 versus 1.8392 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee strengthened 13.10 paisa or 0.34% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.37 from 38.50.

The local currency depreciated by 2.88 paisa or 0.04% against Saudi Riyal to 74.49. While it decreased by 2.64 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.06.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has fell against the US Dollar by 1.03 rupees or 0.37%. While it has decreased 81.67 paisa or 0.29% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 11.58% and 11.83%.
