PKR increases by 5 paisa against USD

October 17, 2024 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) appreciated by 5.00 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Thursday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 277.79 per USD, compared to previous closing of 277.84.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 277.90 and a low (ask) of 277.80.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 277.84 for buying and 279.28 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR rose 80.44 paisa or 0.27% against the Euro, closing at 301.53 compared to the previous value of 302.33.

Against the British Pound, PKR strengthened by 25.95 paisa or 0.07% to 360.84 compared to 361.10 a day ago.

The local unit rose 96.94 paisa or 0.30% against Swiss franc to close at 321.02.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value strengthened 0.44 paisa or 0.24% to close the session at 1.8549 versus 1.8593 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee gained 5.85 paisa or 0.15% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.97 from 39.03.

The local currency rose by 3.69 paisa or 0.05% against Saudi Riyal to 73.97. While it increased by 1.36 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 75.63.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has strengthened against the US Dollar by 54.89 paisa or 0.20%. While it has appreciated 4.07 rupees or 1.46% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates fell 6 bps to 14.34% and 14.59%.
