PKR gains 6 paisa against USD

February 26, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by 5.63 paisa or 0.02% against the US dollar in Wednesday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 279.62 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 279.67.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 279.70 and a low (ask) of 279.60.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 279.50 for buying and 281.50 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR fell 75.19 paisa or 0.26% against the Euro, closing at 293.62 compared to the previous value of 292.87.

Against the British Pound, PKR depreciated by 83.77 paisa or 0.24% to 353.90 compared to 353.06 a day ago.

The local unit weakened 96.61 paisa or 0.31% against Swiss franc to close at 312.80.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value fell 0.33 paisa or 0.18% to close the session at 1.8717 versus 1.8684 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee deteriorated 3.71 paisa or 0.10% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.54 from 38.50.

The local currency strengthened by 1.90 paisa or 0.03% against Saudi Riyal to 74.56. While it appreciated by 1.53 paisa or 0.02% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.13.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 1.27 rupees or 0.46%. While it has decreased 1.07 rupees or 0.38% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 1bps to 11.59% and 11.84%.
