PKR closes within 1 paisa of its all-time low

August 24, 2020 (MLN): Pakistani rupee (PKR) on Monday closed the trading session near an all-time low of 168.38 against USD in the interbank market. It came within 1 paisa of its lowest close, seen on August 20, 2020.

PKR lost its ground against the US dollar as it depreciated by 9 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 168.38 per USD, against last session's closing of PKR 168.29 per USD.

The rupee traded within a very narrow range of 9 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 168.40 and an intraday Low offer of 168.36.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 168/169 per USD.

Alternatively, the currency gained 2 rupees against the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 220.31 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 222.3 per GBP.

On the other hand, PKR's value weakened by 7 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 198.92 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 7.00/7.10 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 7.00/7.05 percent.
