PKR closes at 4-month high against greenback

October 07, 2020 (MLN): The Pakistani Rupee (PKR) on Wednesday closed at a four-month high of 163.97 against the US dollar, a level not seen since June 08, 2020.

PKR appreciated by 6 paisa against US Dollar (USD) in today's interbank session as the currency closed the day's trade at PKR 163.97 per USD, against yesterday's closing of PKR 164.04 per USD.

The rupee traded within a very narrow range of 25 paisa per USD showing an intraday high bid of 164.15 and an intraday Low offer of 163.95.

Within the Open Market, PKR was traded at 163.90/164.90 per USD.

Meanwhile, the currency gained 92 paisa against the Pound Sterling as the day's closing quote stood at PKR 211.78 per GBP, while the previous session closed at PKR 212.71 per GBP.

Similarly, PKR's value strengthened by 22 paisa against EUR which closed at PKR 192.87 at the interbank today.

On another note, within the money market, the overnight repo rate towards close of the session was 6.80/6.95 percent, whereas the 1 week rate was 6.95/7.00 percent.
