PKR appreciates by 9 paisa against USD

April 11, 2025 (MLN): The Pakistani rupee (PKR) strengthened by 8.98 paisa or 0.03% against the US dollar in Friday's interbank session to settle the trade at PKR 280.47 per USD, compared to the previous closing of 280.56.

Throughout the day, the currency saw an intraday high (bid) of 280.65 and a low (ask) of 280.45.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at 280.35 for buying and 282.15 for selling.

In comparison to major currencies, PKR deteriorated 9.70 rupees or 3.14% against the Euro, closing at 318.96 compared to the previous value of 309.26.

Against the British Pound, PKR weakened by 5.42 rupees or 1.50% to 366.54 compared to 361.12 a day ago.

The local unit deteriorated 14.25 rupees or 4.32% against Swiss franc to close at 344.26.

Against the Japanese Yen, PKR's value depreciated 4.48 paisa or 2.34% to close the session at 1.9628 versus 1.9180 a day ago.

Pakistani Rupee fell 10.70 paisa or 0.28% against Chinese Yuan to close at 38.31 from 38.20.

The local currency gained by 2.78 paisa or 0.04% against Saudi Riyal to 74.71. While it rose by 2.55 paisa or 0.03% against the U.A.E Dirham to close at 76.36.

During the current fiscal year, PKR has depreciated against the US Dollar by 2.13 rupees or 0.76%. While it has weakened 1.92 rupees or 0.68% so far this calendar year.

In the Money Market, the benchmark 6 Month Karachi Interbank Bid and Offer rates inched down by 2bps to 11.84% and 12.09%.
