Pakitan’s Trade Deficit at USD 27.488 Billion in 11 months of FY21

June 09, 2021 (MLN): Pakistan's trade deficit for 11 months (July-May) FY21 was USD 27.49 billion compared to a deficit of USD 21.05 billion from the corresponding period from FY20.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the trade deficit for the month of May 2021 was recorded at USD 3.645 billion compared to a deficit of USD3.041 billion from April 2021 showing the deficit worsened by 19.86 percent.

Compared to May 2020 deficit of USD 1.461 billion, the trade numbers deteriorated by149.49 percent

Exports decreased by 25.46 percent to USD 1.654 billion compared to USD 2.219 billion in April 2021.

However compared to May 2020 exports increased by 18.48 percent.

Imports in May 2021 increased by 0.74 percent, clocking in at USD 5.299 billion compared to USD 5.26 billion in April 2021.

Similarly compared to May 2020 imports increased by 85.47 percent

Overall the 11 month exports stood at USD 22.56 billion compared to USD 19.795 from the corresponding period of last year, showing a decrease of 13.97 percent. Similarly Imports during the period increased by 22.52 percent to USD 50.048 billion compared to USD 40.849 from the same period of FY20.
