April 23, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan and Turkiye have reiterated their commitment to strengthening their longstanding fraternal relationship, emphasizing further collaboration across multiple sectors.

The reaffirmation came during a meeting between Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.

Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the potential for enhancing economic ties, particularly through joint ventures and bilateral investments.

He also stressed the importance of cooperation in areas such as energy, mining, defence, agri-production, and increasing regional connectivity to boost trade and foster people-to-people exchanges.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister called for deepening collaboration in emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence and cyber-security, according to the press release.

Both leaders took note of the progress made following the decisions made at the 7th High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) held in Islamabad on 13 February 2025, expressing satisfaction with the ongoing growth in bilateral ties between the two countries.

The Prime Minister and President Erdogan also discussed regional and global issues, reaffirming mutual support on national matters of importance.

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza was another significant topic of discussion, with both leaders calling for an immediate ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian aid to the affected population.

President Erdogan acknowledged Pakistan’s steadfast support for the Palestinian cause and its ongoing humanitarian efforts in the region.

In closing, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Pakistan and Turkiye, aiming to promote peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

The Pakistani delegation included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, and Pakistan's Ambassador to Turkiye Dr. Yusuf Junaid.

Following the meeting, President Erdogan hosted a banquet in honor of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the accompanying delegation.
