December 27, 2024 (MLN): Pakistan and Turkey have expressed commitment to enhancing trade in the agricultural sector, which will help create new opportunities for economic development.
The resolve was expressed during a meeting between Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, and Turkey’s Ambassador to Pakistan, in Islamabad yesterday.
During the meeting, Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized Pakistan's determination to increase exports of high-quality agricultural products to Turkey.
He highlighted that Pakistan's agricultural products are gaining recognition in the global market and that efforts are being made to further establish the country's position, especially in the Turkish market.
Rana Tanveer Hussain briefed the ambassador on ongoing projects, particularly in the olive industry, where Pakistan is working on improving processing techniques and enhancing product quality.
He noted that significant progress has been made in this regard and that both countries are working together to share expertise in the field.
The meeting also addressed the progress of a Joint Working Group formed to enhance cooperation in the agriculture and livestock sectors, as per the press release issued yesterday.
Rana Tanveer Hussain expressed optimism that these initiatives would lead to significant growth in both sectors.
He also reviewed the broader economic framework between Pakistan and Turkey, stating that there was a shared commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of various collaborative projects.
