KSE-100 index opened the month of August with a hefty loss, shedding off more than 390 points at the close. Declining by 0.92%, the index closed at 42018.90 points.
With Textile Composite topping the sector performance, Nishat Chunian Ltd. NCL was at 4.99%, and Nishat Mills at1.42% at day end. Automobile Parts & Accessories, Insurance, and Textile Spinning were the other major headliners during the day.
On the other hand, Commercial Banks were the worst hit taking away a total of 191.74 points; Bank Alfalah BAFL -3.54%, BOP -3.13%, HBL -2.57% and MEBL -2.73% dragged the sector down. Cement, Oil & Gas Exploration and Fertilizer trailed behind in the losses column at the close.
KSE-100 Index at the day end lost a total of 390.37 points down by 0.92%, closing at 42018.90 points. Index Volume was 41.23 million shares, value of shares traded was PKR 3.16 billion with index low-high range of 41944.37 – 42434.82.
According to NCCPL data, Foreign Corporates were net buyers during the last month, with an increased exposure in Fertilizers and Power Generation & Distribution stocks.
21 companies closed up, whereas 65 were down at the day end.
