Pakistan sets sights on higher energy conservation rankings, directs NEECA to act

March 26, 2024 (MLN): To elevate Pakistan’s energy conservation ranking in the world, the government has directed the National Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority to submit future strategies.

According to a news post by the Information Ministry today, the Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari gave these directives during a meeting with the NEECA delegation led by its MD Sardar Mohazzam in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the Managing Director of NEECA highlighted the need for the replacement of inefficient and conventional fans which consume too much electricity.

The Minister directed to collaborate with the Pakistan Electric Fan Manufacturers Association for effective plan execution on an urgent basis in this regard.

Meanwhile, in a meeting with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) chairman, the Minister for Power advised building the capacity of NEPRA employees to handle affairs of the disco’s privatization or Long-term concessions, aimed at providing better service to the consumers.

Chairman NEPRA assured to provide maximum relief to the consumers pursuant to the directions of the government.
