Pakistan expresses desire to work with President Trump on strengthening ties

April 09, 2025 (MLN): Pakistan expressed its desire to work with President Trump and his Administration to strengthen bilateral relations with the United States during a meeting with a U.S. delegation led by Mr. Eric Meyer, Senior Bureau Official & Acting Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, U.S. Department of State.

This was expressed by the Prime Minister, who highlighted the importance of enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

The Prime Minister welcomed U.S. participation at the Forum and emphasized that Pakistan’s mineral sector presents immense opportunities.

He encouraged U.S. companies to invest in this priority sector, as per the press release.

While underscoring the significance of Pakistan-U.S. relations, not only in the bilateral context but also for regional peace and security, the Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of enhanced cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment, and counterterrorism.

Acting Assistant Secretary Meyer congratulated Pakistan on successfully hosting the Pakistan Mineral Investment Forum and acknowledged the potential of the country’s mineral sector.

He conveyed the interest of U.S. companies to invest in the sector and expressed the U.S. desire to work with Pakistan on issues of shared interest.

Meyer further stated that the U.S. looks forward to enhancing bilateral ties with Pakistan.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Division Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, SAPM Tariq Fatemi, and other high-level government officials.
