Pakistan-China cooperation shines at job fair 2025 in Islamabad

May 27, 2025 (MLN): In a landmark event that underscored the strength of Pakistan-China cooperation, the China Chamber of Commerce in Pakistan (CCCPK) and the National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) successfully inaugurated the Job Fair 2025 at the Pak-China Friendship Centre, Islamabad.
The event was held under the guidance of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan.
Held under the theme “Bridging Skills; Building Futures”, the job fair brought together 20 leading Chinese companies operating in Pakistan, collectively offering over 500 employment opportunities to Pakistani technical and vocational graduates.
The event was graced by Jiang Zaidong, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Pakistan, and Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training (FE&PT), who attended as Chief Guests.
The opening session featured keynote addresses by Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State for FE&PT, Yang Guangyuan, Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Wang Huihua, Chairman of CCCPK, and Gulmina Bilal, Chairperson NAVTTC.
In her valedictory note, Wajiha Qamar stated that the event was more than a job fair it was a declaration of Pakistan unleashing its potential.
She emphasized that Pakistani youth are shaping the country’s future, accroding to the press release issued today.
She also applauded NAVTTC’s leadership in the URAAN Pakistan Programme, which focuses on equipping diverse groups including boys, girls, madrassah students, and differently abled children with future-relevant skills such as IT, game development, AI, and hi-tech trades.
She affirmed, “Pakistan doesn't walk alone; China has been walking with us. Like family. We don't just build roads, we build futures.”
In his special remarks, Yang Guangyuan highlighted the evolving collaboration between the two nations as they enter a new phase of CPEC, focused on manufacturing and job creation.
He expressed confidence in the leadership of both countries and noted that in the first quarter of the year, many Chinese companies expressed interest in expanding their businesses in Pakistan.
He added, “Youth is the greatest asset of Pakistan,” and remarked that it was the first time entities from both countries had jointly organized a job fair.
Wang Huihua, Chairman of CCCPK, thanked attendees and underlined that CPEC's contributions go beyond infrastructure extending to employment.
He shared that more than 30,000 Pakistani nationals are currently employed in CCCPK member companies.
Gulmina Bilal, Chairperson NAVTTC, expressed gratitude toward CCCPK and all supporting partners.
She acknowledged the role of Mr. Yang, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, training providers, and graduates.
She highlighted that NAVTTC has produced a work-ready workforce representing all communities, including men, women, transpeople, and religious students.
She emphasized, “Skill training is the master key to progress,” and pointed to China’s people-driven speed and quality as a model. She also expressed hope to take this job fair series from Islamabad to other parts of Pakistan.
The fair was generously supported by Tang International Education, ITMC Technology Co. Limited, UNI Services International (Pvt.) Limited, and City & Guilds.
It provided a vital platform for career guidance, CV collection, and face-to-face interviews between graduates and employers.
A special VIP round of the stalls by the Chief Guests took place in the afternoon session, allowing them to engage directly with both employers and job seekers while appreciating the available talent and the companies’ efforts toward local hiring and skill transfer.
This collaboration between CCCPK and NAVTTC highlighted the shared commitment to aligning Pakistan’s vocational talent with industrial needs and fostering international cooperation.
The event concluded on a high note with robust participation from youth, corporate leaders, and government stakeholders marking another milestone in China-Pakistan cooperation toward a “Skilled Pakistan.”
