Overseas Pakistanis convention set for December to boost foreign investment

August 03, 2024 (MLN): In an attempt to encourage foreign investment in Pakistan, Syed Qamar Raza, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, announced that an Overseas Pakistanis Convention will be organized by December this year.

He made these remarks while talking to delegation of Pakistan Business Forum, France and other European countries led by Sardar Zahoor Iqbal, Chairman, Pakistan Business Forum, France.

Prior to convention, a delegation of 100 overseas Pakistanis investors will be invited around the globe to meet the Prime Minister and discuss strategy to bring investment to Pakistan to strengthen our economy.

Syed Qamar Raza said that in line with Prime Minister’s vision, all initiatives will be adopted to facilitate Overseas Pakistanis.

He also requested them to invest in Pakistan and take advantage of tremendous opportunities that government is offering to foreign investors.

He informed the delegation that OPF is taking exclusive measures including establishment of special courts for Overseas Pakistanis, facilitation counters in police stations all across Pakistan and amendments to recently imposed taxes on overseas Pakistanis.

The Chairman also informed the delegation that Overseas Pakistanis can register their complaints on already established online portal for overseas Pakistanis which can be swiftly brought to the notice of higher management for early redressal.

The Chairman said that he himself is an overseas Pakistani, therefore, is very well familiar with the problems which expats face.

He said that he remains a staunch Pakistani and committed to the cause of overseas Pakistanis without maintaining affiliation with any political party. For all of us, Pakistan is always first.

The delegation congratulated Syed Qamar Raza on assuming the charge of Chairman BOG, OPF and expressed confidence in his leadership.
