September 04, 2023 (MLN): In the North region, the average cement prices increased by Rs152 or 14.8% YoY per bag to clock in at Rs1,184 for August 31, 2023, compared to Rs1,032 in the same period last year.

While on a weekly basis, the average cement prices increased by Rs3 or 0.23% as compared to Rs1,181 by the week ended August 24, 2023.

The largest price increase witnessed in the North was by Islamabad, depicting a significant increase of 1.2% WoW and 13.9% YoY.

Conversely, prices in Gujranwala decreased by Rs 7, or 0.6% WoW, falling to Rs1,183 compared to Rs1,190 by the week ended on August 24, 2023.

Cement prices in Sialkot, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Multan, Bahawalpur, Peshawar, and Bannu remained relatively stable during the week that ended on August 31.

However, when looking at the annual comparison, prices increased by 12.4%, 15.7%, 13.9%, 15.3%, 15.4%, 15%, 16.8%, and 18% for the respective cities.

In the South region, the average cement prices remained relatively stable to reach Rs1,164 as of August 31, 2023.

The average prices, when compared to Rs1,042 in the week ending on September 1, 2022, increased by 11.8% YoY.

Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Quetta, and Khuzdar witnessed year-over-year increases of 16.8%, 15%, 9.1%, 6%, 11.4%, and 13.5% in cement prices, respectively.
