May 12, 2022 (MLN): Pakistan’s major water reservoirs Mangla and Tarbela dams are at a dead level.

The current level of water at Mangala Dam has around 1411 feet against the dead level of 1380 feet while Mangla dam’s water level is approximately 1083 feet compared to its dead level of 1050 feet, as per official sources.

This decline in water storage is alarming as it will result in a massive reduction in hydel power generation.
