Ishaq Dar reviews ERRA-NDMA merger at 15th council meeting

November 22, 2024 (MLN): The strategic merger of the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) was reviewed by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar during the 15th Council Meeting of the ERRA held yesterday.

Chairman ERRA presented the pathway to ERRA’s subsuming into NDMA (substantially accomplished as per Prime Minister’s directives) and recommendations to proceed with legislative matters and securing financial support for projects already transferred to AJ&K and KP Governments.

Primary agenda of the meeting was to certify completion of HQ ERRA projects concluded in June 2024, audit and project closures method at HQ NDMA (which would oversee the comprehensive processes of HQ ERRA) the strategic integration of ERRA into the NDMA.

The Deputy Prime Minister observed that the subsuming process aims to streamline operations, improve resource allocation, and strengthen the overall disaster response framework.

The meeting concluded with agreement on the next steps for the integration process, with a focus on incorporating Govt of AJK, KP and Ministries of Finance and Planning for balance projects.
