February 18, 2021 (MLN): Investors have sold Rs 63 billion worth of Rs 25000 bonds since its ban in December 2020.
Before the announcement of its ban, the total investment parked in these bonds was nearly Rs 164 billion, whereas the registration by name following the ban totaled around Rs 1.8 billion.
It is pertinent to note that investors have time till May 31, 2021, to sell or convert these bonds.
The government had also banned Rs 40,000 worth of bonds some three years back, which at the time, held investments of Rs 259 billion. Presently, only Rs 1.8 billion worth of investment is left in Rs 40000 bonds. The registration of Rs 40,000 bonds stands at around Rs 21 billion as of December 31, 2020.
