Govt urges automation of FBR operations for enhanced transparency

September 15, 2023 (MLN): Automation of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) operations is not just a choice but a necessity to ensure transparency, accountability, and ease of doing business in Pakistan, Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, and Privatization, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar stated during a meeting on Thursday, as per a press release issued on the same say.

Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, and Privatization Dr. Shamshad Akhtar held a meeting with the FBR to discuss the acceleration of automation of FBR operations, at FBR headquarters today.

During the meeting, the FBR team and the team from the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication apprised the Minister about the progress on a comprehensive plan for the automation of FBR's functions, broadly encompassing tax collection and revenue management.

The Minister, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, reiterated the government's dedication to modernizing its fiscal systems to align with international best practices.

She stressed the need for leveraging technology to strengthen the nation's revenue collection mechanisms and promote economic growth.

The meeting concluded with the commitment from all the participatory bodies to make dedicated efforts towards this end in order to enhance fiscal governance, boost revenue collection, and stimulate the economic growth of the country.
